Shop Update
More Gig Dates
We’re delighted to announce we’ve been invited to play on the Saturday of the Randall Rootz Festival on August 19th on the riverbank in Peterborough. You can catch us around 5pm for a 40 minute set of modern country greats, as well as a whole host of other artists over the weekend.
In addition, we’re booked in for an evening at popular local venue the Dragon here in Peterborough at the end of January.
As ever, keep an eye on our gig calendar for more dates as they happen.
Cheaper t-shirts!
Good news! The classic black men’s and women’s t-shirts in our shop are now down to just £11.99 (due to an oversight for which Mike takes full responsibility!) – and it’s not too late to buy one to show your support for us in Yaxley at the end of the month!
“Badges, Posters, Stickers, T-shirts”….
…to quote the Dire Straits B-side.
Want to show your support for Americana? You can now buy a range of items branded with the Americana logo from our shop!
We’ve chosen to go with Spreadshirt – while it would be cheaper to get a bunch of stuff printed up in bulk, it requires a fair outlay of initial capital on our part, and also we’d have to try and guess what sizes you all are and which products to carry, as well as handle payment and shipping. Instead of that, you deal direct with Spreadshirt via our website, and they handle all that stuff and (if necessary) resolve any problems you might have with sizing etc. This way is much less painful for us, and while it does make things a bit more expensive, they’re still pretty reasonably priced (compared to, say, C2C!). We’ve also taken the decision not to take the Spreadshirt commission on the store, which reduces the prices for you the fan.
The gorgeous and evocative background photo for the logo is a crop of “Saguaro Sunset” by Greg McCown & Saguaro Pictures, used with permission and thanks. Greg is a professional photographer out of Tucson, AZ, and we found the photo online and got in touch to ask for his permission to use it. Greg was more than reasonable, and for a very modest fee we now have full commercial rights. (The actual text logo is designed by Mike – we didn’t pay him!)
New recordings
One of the great advantages of having our own rehearsal space is being able to leave most everything set up, including the rehearsal PA and monitors, and the multitrack recording setup. These are taken from our last couple of rehearsals: there’s no studio editing, overdubs or other trickery – this is what we played at the time, what you’d hear standing in the room at a rehearsal or a live gig. Enjoy!
Little Big Town – “Sober”
Excerpts from:
- Martina McBride – ‘Wild Angels”
- Mary Chapin Carpenter – “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her”
- Linda Ronstadt – “When Will I Be Loved?”
- Jo Dee Messina – “Heads Carolina”
- Band Perry – “Better Dig Two”
- Little Big Town – “Girl Crush”
If you want to book us for a gig, don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We’re now on Twitter!
You can find us at @americana_info (give us a break, finding a free user name was hard!). Feel free to follow us there (as well as on Facebook) for more band news and chatter.
Live in July at the Lancaster Club, Yaxley
We’ll be headlining the Country Night at the Lancaster Club here in Yaxley on July 28th.
More details here.
Welcome to Evonne!
After a couple of sessions of auditions with some excellent candidates, we’ve chosen a new singer!
Evonne Rivers has joined us, bringing a fabulous voice and presence, and an already existing repertoire of country music that should make working up a set list a whole load of fun. She says she’s always wanted to sing with a ‘big, rocky country’ band, so it’s a marriage made in heaven.
We’ve got a couple of weeks’ hiatus ahead of us, while half the band head off to Country 2 Country at the O2 and then Mike and Andy disappear to (different) foreign climes, but look out for new rehearsal recordings and photos soon after that.
Victoria
We’re truly sorry to announce that Victoria is leaving us.
We’ve had a brilliant time working with her, and she’s inspired us to realise just how good a band we can be. Sadly, her other professional musical commitments mean that she has to step down from her rôle with us, with no ill-will or hard feelings on either side. Country fans should look out for an upcoming Nashville tribute show from her Highway 65 project soon!
Victoria says:
I’m so sorry to leave, and I will very much miss all of Americana and the fab music, but will remain the band’s number one fan!
Ashton Lane + Americana, Met Lounge Sunday 12th Feb
We are beyond delighted to announce that we will be supporting the wonderful Ashton Lane (again, this time in full electric mode) at Peterborough’s Met Lounge on Sunday 12th February. The gig is open to age 14+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an 18+), and starts at 7.45.
Tickets are £8, and available online in advance: you can either purchase and print your tickets online using Skiddle, or contact one of the band if we can deliver you tickets in person ahead of time (we’re going to be a bit busy on the night!)
