Live at the Burghley Club

At a loose end on Saturday? Pop down to the Burghley Club in Peterborough for Americana’s first ever visit and our first gig of 2020! We’re expecting a big crowd for the usual selection of energetic modern country – see you there!

Upcoming gigs…

We’re back at two of our favourite venues in November. On the 2nd, you can catch us at the Market Inn in Huntingdon: it’s a cosy venue just off the square that serves excellent beer, has friendly staff and always has a great crowd. The fun starts at 8pm, and we’ll be doing three sets, rather than our usual two. Look out for some songs you may not have heard us do before (especially if you missed our set at the Crown!)

Later in the month (on the 30th) we’re back at Thorney ex-Servicemen’s Club – again, a great venue with a fabulous atmosphere and a great sound.

Just to reiterate – our diary’s open for 2020, so if you know of a venue you think we’d suit, please drop us and/or them a line via this page or Facebook.

Now booking for 2020!

We now have our diary open to take bookings for 2020. Country music is increasing in popularity in the UK at the moment and we cover a wide range of the most popular artists in the genre over the past 30 years, including Martina McBride, Lady Antebellum, Little Big Town, Dolly Parton, Miranda Lambert, etc.

As folks who’ve seen us will attest, we have a big pop-rock influenced modern country sound with stunning harmony vocals. Check out our media page for live videos.

If you fancy something a little bit different for your music venue, drop us a line via Facebook Messenger or contact us via the website. We’re looking for new venues as well as old favourites in 2020.

On the road again…

Looking set for a decent summer’s weekend, so why not spend this Saturday (tomorrow, as ever is) at the superb Extonbury Festival. Great live music from lunchtime through into the whole evening, and you can catch us at around 3:30 for a blast of summer country.

Upcoming Gigs!

After a bit longer than he or the rest of us would like, James is happily recovered enough to swing a pair of drumsticks again.

So, coming soon to a venue near you…. (details on our gigs page or to the right!)

The Blue Bell Inn, Werrington – back to a great local venue on the evening of Friday 14th June! We loved it here last year, so we’re chuffed to be invited back.

Extonbury Festival – we were invited to this popular festival last year, but sadly schedules prevented it. This year, we’re very happy to join the line up for Rutland’s best charity rock and folk festival on Saturday 6th July at 3.30pm!

The Crown, Peterborough – we were all gutted to miss out on the chance to play here last month, so we’re delighted to be back, playing on Saturday July 27th, on the night before their big charity festival (relax, we will be doing some stuff in aid of the Sunday proceedings). Come along to one of Peterborough’s best live rock venues!

Live at the Crown – 10th May

It’s been a while, but we’re back at the Crown on Lincoln Road in Peterborough on May 10th.

Expect the usual collection of uptempo modern country classics, at this fabulous local venue that’s renowned for the quality of its live music (and beer!). We’d love to see a big, country-loving crowd along on a Friday night.

Time flies…

It’s perhaps an unlikely backdrop for the formation of a country rock band, but this was the view before me 4 years ago this very week in St Lucia when a message popped up on my phone from Mike. Was I interested in being part of a gigging country rock band? It took all of 5 seconds and and another sip of my (near perfect) martini to respond saying ‘of course’! I hadn’t played in a rock band for years and then it was folk, not country, rock – but the invitation was simply irresistible. I’d loved country since a chance evening in back in 1991 when channel hopping on TV one Saturday night and landing on the CMA Awards! Within seconds of my response, the conversation on Messenger became three way ‘Steve meet Andy, Andy meet Steve’ and so the rapid exciting chat started about bands, songs and, inevitably, gear, as Americana (then without a name) came into being across the Atlantic.

Mike, Andy and I met a week or so following my return to the UK and we had a great evening pouring over Andy’s infinitesimal music collection on his Mac and choosing, as I recall, three songs to go with initially – and they’re all still in the current set! When we first picked up instruments, with Anne and James joining us, we knew that we had something (in addition to the big grins on our faces) and, within weeks, we were rehearsing with Marie (who was then our lead singer). Fabulous times….and great fun (as it still is). We wouldn’t gig for over a year – and then with Victoria on lead vocals – but this was a band for whom ‘ok, that’s alright, it’ll do’ was never sufficient. And that’s still the case. Nashville’s musicians and producers are some of the finest in the world – and replicating the sound and ‘feel’ is not always easy with only 6 people on a cold winter night in Peterborough. If a song isn’t perfect, it stays in the rehearsal room.

Looking back on those early days….like a postcard from a previous year’s holiday…makes you realise how far you’ve travelled. And we’ve such come a long way – especially with Evonne at the lead. Songs have come, songs have gone and some songs have come around (and around) again (Jolene being one!). Instruments and gear have mainly come in the same time! (Ovation guitars, Bridge violins and Wampler effects pedals have all benefitted immensely). And Jon at Guitar Services in Peterborough has been the wizard who has kept us in perfect intonation and with so many ‘custom’ modifications and adjustments.

And so I’m here in St Lucia again looking at that same sunset. (It’s the hardest gig I know!). I can’t wait for the next 4 years of Americana…

2019 dates – Back at the Market Inn

Our diary’s starting to fill up – the good news this time is we’ll be back at the Market Inn in Huntingdon for two gigs in January and November

Last time we had an absolute blast, with a crowd of country fans singing along to pretty much everything. Here’s (our first ever performance of) Kathy Mattea’s “Walking Away A Winner” from that gig.

2019 dates – the Crown

We’re very pleased to announce that we’re back at the Crown, one of Peterborough’s premier live music venues, in 2019 for two gigs, Friday 10th May and Saturday 27th July. Our last gig there was early in 2018, and we had an absolute blast – it’s a great place to play, with a great audience.

Stick them in the diary now!
